What New Rochelle chimneys are up against

Most of New Rochelle was built before the Second World War. In Wykagyl and Beechmont, a single chimney often serves two or three fireplaces plus the boiler. Down by the water, salt air and wind wear masonry faster than inland. And in the two- and three-family houses, the boiler often vents into a clay flue that was never meant for modern gas appliances. All of that needs more than a quick brush.

  • Several flues in one stack, each needing its own sweep and inspection
  • Clay liners cracked by age, or by gas boilers venting into them
  • Crowns and mortar worn down by salt air and wind near the Sound
  • Leaks where the chimney meets slate, tile or shingle roofs
  • Animals and debris in chimneys with no cap

Why homeowners call us back

No theatre, no scare tactics, no invented emergencies

Built for older houses

Most chimneys we see here are 80 to 120 years old. We repair them in a way that suits the house.

Every flue, not just one

Houses with several fireplaces and a boiler get every flue inspected, not just the one you use most.

Photos, not guesses

You see inside the flue and the top of the stack. Every recommendation comes with a picture.

Quote first, then work

A written price before any work starts, and the invoice matches it.

How it works

Four steps, no surprises

Tell us about the chimney

How many fireplaces, whether the boiler shares the chimney, and what made you get in touch. A few lines is enough.

Pick a time

We give you a real appointment window and arrive inside it.

Inspect first

Camera up each flue and photos of the crown, cap and flashing before we recommend anything.

Written report

What we found, and what should be fixed now versus what can wait.

Questions we get every week

Straight answers

How often should a chimney in New Rochelle be swept?
NFPA 211 calls for a yearly inspection, with sweeping when it’s needed. A fireplace used most winter weekends usually needs sweeping every year. The flue your boiler vents into should be checked every year as well, even if you never light the fireplace.
Our house has three fireplaces. Do you check all of them?
Yes. Each flue is its own passage with its own creosote and its own cracks, so each one gets swept, run with a camera and photographed. You get one report covering every flue.
Our boiler vents into the chimney. Does it need a liner?
Often, yes. Modern gas boilers and water heaters produce acidic condensation that breaks down old clay liners and mortar. If the flue is unlined or cracked, a stainless steel liner sized to the appliance is the usual fix, and many boiler replacements call for one.
We live near the water. Does that affect the chimney?
Yes. Salt air and wind wear down crowns, caps and mortar joints faster than inland. Houses on Davenport Neck and near the Sound tend to need crown and cap work sooner, so we check those closely.
Do you do inspections for home sales?
Yes. A Level 2 inspection, with a camera run up each flue and a check of the accessible parts of the chimney, comes with a written report and photos for your attorney, home inspector or insurer.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the chimney. A single fireplace and a three-flue stack with a boiler liner are very different jobs, so we quote after seeing it. The quote comes before the work and doesn’t change afterwards.
